As we all know, “Ayurveda” is the best therapy for embracing calmness for our mind, body, and soul. It is the ancient healing therapy that believes in overall health and wellness. Ayurveda is a vast science of living through natural ways embracing nature to take care of the body. Ayurveda with yoga has helped many people to maintain a healthy body.

Need of the Ayurveda Training Course

Through knowledge, information, and practice, one can learn excellent basic principles of the Ayurveda. The course provides theoretical and practical aspects to understand body (sharira), force (prana), and consciousness or (atma). Here each aspect is connected and influences the other. Ayurveda course also helps in understanding the fundamental principles such as

  1. the 5 Big Elements (Panchamahabhuta meaning Pancha – 5, Maha – Big, and Bhuta – Elements)
  2. the dosha (vata, pitta, kapha)
  3. the digestion (agni)
  4. the body structure (sharira)
  5. the mind (manas)

The Ayurveda course is designed to prepare for pre-requisite courses – Ayurveda Foundation Certificate Course (AFCC) and Ayurveda Nutrition Foundation Course (ANFC).

AFCC Course Structure

One has to complete 20 hours. The course is provided in the English language with Chinese Translation. Certificate of Attendance will be provided by the Ayurveda Association of Singapore (AAOS).

  • Fundamental Principles of Ayurveda
  • Ayurveda Constitution Type (Prakriti)
  • Structures that support the body
  • Digestion (Agni) and Ama
  • Mind (An Ayurveda Perspective)
  • Routines for Health and Wellness

A live Q&A session (1 hour) session will be conducted for a month. It will also give time to students to review all the materials and ask questions.

This 20 hours AFCC course includes online home study, assignments, and live Q&A sessions.

Ayurveda Nutrition Foundation Course (ANFC)

To enroll for ANFC, students must first complete Ayurveda Foundation Certificate Course (AFCC). The course will take you much deeper level of the Ayurveda principles of nutrition.

ANFC contains 30 hours of duration comprising an online home study, assignments, and live Q&A sessions. Like AFCC, ANFC course will be provided in the English language with Chinese Translation

  • Ayurveda Nutrition vs Conventional Nutrition
  • Guna (Quality) and pRakriti (ayurveda traits)
  • Role of Dosha in digestion process
  • Role of Agni (digestive fire) and Ama (undigested food)
  • Ayurveda and fasting (upavasa) based on prakriti
  • Ayurveda principles of a balanced diet (ashta, ahara, vidhi, vishesha, and ayatana)
  • Ayurvedic Dravya (herbs/spices) and Recipes

Vasanthi Pillay is the President of the Ayurveda Association of Singapore (AAOS) and the Director of Innergy Ayurveda and Yoga Pte Ltd. She conducts several Talks and Workshops on Ayurveda in Singapore and Asia to help people understand the fundamental principles of Ayurveda so that they can apply the principles as a preventive medicine for their families and themselves. Vasanthi works with 2 large conventional hospitals in Taiwan in assisting them with training and integrating ayurveda and yoga into the healthcare system. She has  also worked with Montessori Schools in China and Taiwan in educating the parents and teachers in incorporating a holistic diet and lifestyle program for parent-child education.  Vasanthi who has worked in a highly stressful corporate world, developed a keen interest in mind-body relationship. This prompted her to take up her yoga Instructor Course in Vyasa, Bangalore India in 1995 and several ayurveda Courses. Vasanthi also holds a Bachelor of Arts (NUS) majoring in Philosophy and Sociology; Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (SIM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance (UNSW, Australia).  Vasanthi collaborates with M S Ramaiah Indic Centre for Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine (Bangalore) to offer joint certificate programs on ayurveda and yoga.
